Both Mediation and Arbitration are alternatives to resolving disputes in the court system.
Mediation is a method that actively involves the parties in the process and seeks to resolve a dispute expeditiously with a win-win solution for all parties. Arbitration is similar to the court process in that witnesses are heard and a decision is made by the Arbitrator at the end of the hearing.
Both Mediation and Arbitration provide expeditious and less expensive methods than the court system to resolve disputes. The hearings are private and members of the public are not admitted. The parties control the process and have direct input into the process.
