Jeff D. Paine

Jeff Paine practices in Municipal Law, Environmental Law and Civil Litigation. He brings to these areas experience garnered as a professional engineer and environmental consultant. Initially working for a consulting engineering firm in Newfoundland he was involved with hydroelectric power development and subsequently worked as a Project Manager in the water resources field in Toronto. In 1983 he founded J.D. Paine Engineering Inc. to provide custom engineering services in water resources and environmental management. He was involved in environmental, hydraulic and hydrologic research as a research associate at Queen’s University and through his participation as a member of the Hydrologic Modeling Group at the Department of Civil Engineering.
During the course of his engineering career, Jeff has provided engineering services for private developers, public agencies, industrial and commercial clients and municipalities. Additionally, he has often represented his clients’ interests through participation as an expert witness at OMB hearings.
Jeff received his M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University in 1978 and after a 20 year engineering career returned to Queen’s to study Law.
Jeff is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association.
