John Abrams

John Abrams is an Associate Lawyer at Templeman LLP working in the Civil Litigation and Administrative Law, Criminal Law, Construction Law, and Entertainment Law practice areas. John is a graduate of Queen’s Law, where he made the Dean’s Honour List and received the Global Law Scholarship. He completed his undergraduate degree at Queen’s on the Chancellor’s Scholarship.
John also brings over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. He is one of The Abrams, a fourth-generation internationally renowned country music duo signed with Warner Music Canada, GPS Management and Sakamoto Agency. They were the youngest Canadians to perform on Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, have had multiple Top 40 radio hits, and have made appearances on BBC, NBC, FOX, NPR, CMT, and CBC’s The National, with reviews in Billboard, The Toronto Star and The Los Angeles Times. The Abrams have headlined their own tours worldwide, and have performed with Keith Urban, Luke Combs and The Dixie Chicks. In 2006, they were recognized as International Peace Ambassadors between the West and the Middle East by the Daniel Pearl Foundation.
Through his legal studies and entertainment background, John has experience negotiating worldwide licensing and publishing deals, and has exposure to contractual issues in various jurisdictions. As a performer and professional public speaker, he has honed an interest in litigation, which forms a significant part of his legal practice at Templeman LLP. John recently co-authored a paper with Susan Abramovitch for the International Entertainment Lawyers Association Textbook on Artificial Intelligence and Entertainment Law. John also co-authored and published a paper with eminent Family Law professor Nicholas Bala, titled Child Support for Adult Children: When Does Childhood End?
