A Partner at Templeman LLP, Jennifer Ng has a broad civil litigation practice, with experience in corporate and commercial matters, real estate and boundary disputes, power of attorney and estate disputes, insurance defense, and municipal litigation. She has appeared before all levels of courts in Ontario, as well as administrative tribunals.
Jennifer joined Templeman LLP in 2015 after articling and practicing intellectual property litigation at an international law firm in Toronto. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and is a registered pharmacist in Ontario; following which she obtained her Juris Doctor law degree at Queen’s University, graduating on the Dean’s Honour List in 2013.
In 2023 The Kingston Economic Development Corporation honored Jennifer for her extraordinary accomplishments and contributions by awarding her one of its 40 Under 40 Young Professionals Awards, which recognize outstanding leaders who have influenced Kingston’s future in a variety of fields.
In addition to her legal practice, Jennifer continues to engage part-time as a community pharmacist, as well as co-teaches the upper-year Motions Advocacy course at Queen’s Law.
Jennifer is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Frontenac Law Association. Jennifer is also currently a registered pharmacist in Ontario and is a member of the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
Select representative experience:
- Responding to trust claims challenging municipality’s fee simple ownership and sale with respect to lands devised under a will
- Successful judgment at trial establishing ownership and the right to recover possession of a Golden Aussie dog
- Successful dismissal of an anti-SLAPP motion under section 137.1 of the Courts of Justice Act, on behalf of an individual plaintiff claims of slander defamation made by municipality’s agent
- On behalf of a local health unit, successfully obtained enforcement and contempt orders against a property owner for breach of health and environmental regulations
- Dismissal of claims pursuant to a Rule 21 motion to strike pleadings and action
- Obtained summary judgment to enforce commercial lease provisions for non-payment of rent successfully addressing defences of force majeure and frustration arising from the COVID-19 pandemic
- Obtained a Mareva injunction and Certificate of Pending Litigation to preserve assets, and subsequent Judgment in a fraud action
- Lead counsel in the trial of a power of attorney and estate accounting, on behalf of the attorney for property and estate trustee as respondent, obtaining successful Judgment and costs award in favour of the respondent
- Successful dismissal on behalf of an Estate of an appeal and motion for fresh evidence, concerning the validity and enforcement of a promissory note between a testator and the appellant
